saved from e-bay - black phase 1

Well, me & Ellis went halves & bought the low milage phase 1 on e-bay last week. We went to collect it yesterday & after unseizing the front brakes, it was pushed on to the trailer by one of those "bobcat" digger things. I found out yesterday that a 21 turbo only just fits on a 18ft bed trailer.

We unloaded the car at Ellis's house, put a battery on it & guess what.......it started first time & the engine purrs like sowing machine - needless to say we were well chuffed.

Things of course need to be done, under the bonnet it's all good - nothing missing upart from a rat eaten rocker cover breather pipe & an air filter, but that really is it. There's NO rust under the bonnet & all appears to be in tip top condition. Inside it needs a passenger seat rail & the drivers seat needs fixing back in again. Every thing works including electric windows, mirrors, sunroof & blower - might keep it myself.

List of things required:

2 x headlights
drivers indicator
passenger seat frame & fixing bolts
fuel tank straps
2 x rear doors
airfilter
rocker cover breather pipe (eaten by rats!!)

Once all the above is sorted, we'll mot it & sell it........

The leather is in brilliant condition, so are door cards & carpets - the roof lining is a tad mouldy around the sunroof. It's done 77,524 miles from new, has full service history & a 1997 tax disc.

I'll try to keep you upto date, but Ellis has his hands on it at the moment as i don't think my car would've have enjoyed towing it all the way to Dorset!!

Well Ellis has been busy, both headlights have been replaced (cheers roger) as has the breather pipe, battery, 1 x door & the fans are sorted.

Hopefully he'll post some pics up sometime.....

Rats chewed a load up on my Quaddie donor after it sat so long too. Pain in the ass!

Ok, Ellis has sent me some pics of the body & paintwork..............It's come up treat - all things are now sorted except the tank strap (on order) drivers side rear door & a mot - fingers crossed!!

There's something about a phase 1 in black, it's a good colour. I personally like the faded red country look.

i don't think the colour matters (unless it's pink or yellow)...it's the drive that makes the car..

ps. forgot to mention it has a towbar fitted - the original owner thought he'd try towing his caravan, duly shat himself, parked the 21 in a barn & probably bought a volvo........:-)

Glad he took the recommendation to get a new tank strap. Not worth the risk of 2nd hand ones.

You're right Dave, his red phase 1 is rather tasty & after he made the mistake of handing me the keys :wow: i can confirm it goes as well as it looks!!

Tank strap all sorted now & we have our first viewing tomorrow - cool.....
