In the essense of JohnSpin becoming JohnSlim I thought id send my 21t on a crash diet ...

I ordered a new water pump from GSF on Tuesday , it arrived yesterday , except it was the wrong one. They dont stock the correct one

I had booked in 4 hours with the wife so decided to start on project loose weight with the 21t.

Rear seats out ( there going back in )

There are layers of this foam backed plastic that acts as the sound proofing / deadening. I had to cut it out , but it reveals a really tacky substand. Think a very dense and sticky blue tack. Anyone know how to shift it ? Cold chisel and hammer so far is the only way and judicious use of a grouting tool

Filled 3 buckets worth of the stuff. A good few kilos there

The carpet is going back in , but i want the blue tack gone ...

So its not just Partco that supply the wrong parts then ....... lol ..

Iv been chipping away at the padding on the inside of my Datsun, but more for the reason of finding any rust that may be hiding under it .... lol .... the stuff on it is gripping for dear life .....

That stuff is a freaking nightmare! I cleaned ALL of it out of the quadra, boot through to footwells.

TWO DAYS, and my arms nearly dropped off.

Update :

Filled a bucket with all the sound proofing that is glued down. Weighs around 30 - 40 kgs

This is what the floor now looks like. I will have to take the carpet out. I didnt allow for the fact that the carpet was made to measure , and now is an inch short around all sides due to the fact that I have removed a good two inches of sound deadening

I have also noticed that I have a fred flintstone car ( hole in floor ! ) on both passenger and drivers side where the old jacking points have gone soft and been used. The car when it eventually gets the water pump removed will be going to Coventry ( literally not metaphorically ) to get some new plate fitted.

Very common for them to rust above the jacking points at the front, I don't think the hole in the jacking point helps as I'm sure crap builds up in the jacking point and stays moist causing the floor above to rust.
